I finally got my A210's up and running. I spent pretty much Saturday mounting the bass drivers and moving the 803 horns back to the garage so I could fire them up. I spent about an hour listening to them and started falling asleep, wrestling those bug boys sure takes a lot out of a person. Sunday I spent listening and putzing around the garage. I need to do a lot of work to the 1003 horns so I started looking them over. They need various degrees of work to remedy the tar flaking off. Not sure if I'll use car underbody stuff or bondo yet.

I was worried I was going to have to send the 515's back to Bill and have him trim the frames, he even gratiously offered to do it at no charge, but with the sides already cut out, they fit...barely.

Next Saturday I'll break out the rta and start tweaking the A210's, then maybe I'll have a stand em up party so i can see what they sound like in the upright position.

I agree, that's quite the space you have to play in. It's bigger than my entire house!!!.

That's alot of speaker to be moving around. I'm sure that you got your exercise for the day when working with those speakers.

Nice work there tinpan. They sure do look good. Due to the weight and bulkiness, I added 6" wheels and grab bars on the back of mine to make them easier to move around, but if you are putting them against the wall like that, wheels would get in the way I think.

Also, you're going to notice a big difference if you stand them up. The floor bounce cancellation I find a bit distracting. I always use mine laying down.

Did you modify the cabinets, or had it already been done?

I'm really thinking hard about altering my 210's to accept 16 inch frames. I have this quad of Emilar EW15-8B woofers just sitting around doing nothing for the time being, and i'm tempted to hack away at the 210's to get them to fit.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the encouragement and compliments. That is a cool garage I have and it's one of the reasons I got this place. I'm into vintage Packards and one of my goals is to have a system that I can play big band music on when my 39 Packard comes out of the shop. The problem I am running into is the music systems are competing for space with the cars and I find myself wondering if I need to get rid of some cars to improve the listening area. lol.

My bass bins came with the sides already cut or modded for the 515 drivers. I was thinking about putting 416's in which I think were the original drivers and if I had done that I would have repaired the holes in the cabs. With the 515s they fit in there perfectly but I'll need to add a patch if I stand them up. I have a feeling I'll be adding a screw on side patch anyway because where some folks do tube rolling, I seem to do speaker rolling.

I have some pics of the 515 drivers i took on my iphone, I'll post them when my iphone decides to let me download them. Stupid phone doesn't always sync right.

As I was mentioning, here is what the inside of the bass bins looked like. The sides were already cut out and the drivers fit exactly. I can slide a business card through there but that's about it.
